Nine Months Old

3 things I am REALLY excited about!

1) Our new can crusher.

This thing is amazing. Kevin mounted it to the wall in our garage this weekend and it's the best!!!! We had one growing up, and my parents would always let my bro and me split the money we made after we took the crushed cans down to the recycling center. I have no idea where the closest recycling center is in Dallas, but I'm going to find it. And crush LOTS of cans. Because it's fun and I'm helping save the earth by doing so...

2) Our new garden. Here we are getting down and dirty while planting onions - 3 butts in a row.

As you know, I had a tomato plant this year which yielded quite the harvest. With some encouragement and guidance from my Dad, I've decided it's time to graduate to a small, manageable garden this year. In a month's time we'll also be planting 2 tomato plants and 2 peppers - probably 1 green bell and 1 banana. I'd also like to plant a pot of herbs - some cilantro, and maybe basil or parsley if the timing is right?

3) Our new piano.

This is from my Granny's house which makes it incredibly special. It needs some work, but once in tune and spiced up I know it will be just perfect. Sometimes I play for B while she's in her high chair and she absolutely loves it. Is mesmerized by the sound. In fact, she's quite the little maestro herself...

Snow Day

If you haven't heard, we got a little bit of snow in the Big D.

Okay - maybe more than a little bit. Coming from a family of low-key homebodies, I'm fine with having been stuck inside for 4 days straight. I've got a baby to play with, furniture to dust, laundry to do, books to read. My stir-crazy hubby, on the other hand, is out braving the cold with his BFF as I write this post. During a brief phone conversation he tells me he saw a car do a 180 in front of them. Oh my. I'm compartmentalizing my worry and praying that God brings them home safely, trusting that this outing will be restorative for him despite the danger of traveling on the icy and wintery roads. Plus we really need marshmallows from the grocery store. There's only 1 left and we'd have to fight over who gets it to roast a s'more in the fireplace tonight.

We took B out in the snow today, and Abby too. I took a lot of great pictures, and learned how to download off our new camera when Pop was in town last week - finally!!!!

Here is my daily snack. I know - not an exciting picture, but I wanted to test our camera's ability to take close-ups. And really - come to our house if you ever want PB M&M's. We stock up regularly.

One of my favorites of Abby in the snow. She loves the cold and gets super frisky and playful when she's outside. Open wide for snowflakes!

This is my other favorite of Abby (and of course, K and B). When I saw it I started laughing hysterically. I wish I were creative enough to come up with a hilarious caption. She looks like a wired cartoon character. Ha.

Mommy and B:

Best buds. These 2 tolerate each other so well. :-)

B: What are you doin'?
A: Sniffing the snowflakes and counting the seconds until Dad tells me I can get up and run around and play some more.

And finally - the reason why today was just so darn great: I got to wear my FAVORITE shoes - my hiking boots!!!
