Cooper Isaac

He was born at 12:47 pm with a full head of hair and weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces, measuring 20 3/4 inches long.  We are very tired as little man has his days and nights confused, but so unbelievably excited to have him here as part of our family.  We love him immensely!

B's Birthday!!

It's B's, and ONLY B's birthday today!!!!!!  [As a brief update, my appointment went well this morning and baby is still nesting safely inside my belly which will hopefully last until next week.  Plus -
we still have LOTS to do this weekend to get ready for this nameless little man to arrive!!]  We spent today having fun with our daughter who makes our hearts burst with so much joy.  This little girl has changed our lives and we're in awe of God for blessing us to be her parents.

Here's most of our day in pictures:

Attempt to Un-jinx

B's real birthday is tomorrow.  We are so excited to celebrate it with just the 3 of us - our small family that's about to expand to 4.  K is taking off work and we're planning a trip to the aquarium, have chocolate chip muffins made for breakfast with a candle on top, about to set up her new fun tent to explore when she wakes up in the morning...

I have a doctor's appointment at 8:45 am.  It should be quick and easy - my last one before scheduled C-section, just a simple heartbeat check.  My doctor has not been checking to see if I'm dilated or not to avoid unnecessary contractions against my existing uterine scar.

Every appointment I've had has either been on a Monday or a Wednesday, mostly Wednesday.  Except today my doctor was at another clinic so I had to schedule for Thursday.  Again - the same day as B's birthday.  And since we've found out that I was pregnant, I've been adamant about having our 2 kids' birthdays as far apart as possible so they can celebrate their respective special days independently.  No combined parties, no joint festivities - each with their own friends and own individual parties.

But for some reason I have this feeling that tomorrow something is going to be a little off and my doctor's going to say that we need to deliver baby boy that afternoon.  ON B's BIRTHDAY!!!!!  And then our 2 children will have the EXACT SAME BIRTHDAY.  Exactly what I've been hoping to avoid since day 1!!!!!!!!

SO - remember how I thought I was going to fail my glucose test so I had a giant chocolate brownie peanut butter sundae and blogged about it the day before?  Miraculously, I passed, so I thought if I blog about a potential early delivery then the exact opposite will happen and baby boy will arrive in a week instead of tomorrow.  It's worth a shot, right?  But really - God has his own perfect timing.  I might as well just embrace it since He knows the exact time and date that this baby is entering the world!

Here we are in the mirror - oh my.

And as a random size update, B remains tall and skinny - 10% for weight and 85% for height.  Love this sporty chick in her Air Jordans!

Party!

Sooooooo I'm in a blogging slump. I was doing so well there for a while, but lately haven't been motivated or creative enough to post.  Since my free time at night is nearing an end with baby's pending arrival, I figure it's time to jump back on the blogging bandwagon for a couple weeks at least.  Lots has happened between now and April 11, so for starters I figured it best to start with the exciting stuff - like B's 2nd birthday party!!!

We had a small celebration a couple weeks early just in case little man decides to come before the end of the month.  On a recent trip to Party City I gave B a choice of Elmo or Hello Kitty decor.  She chose Elmo.  So I added a few Sesame Street touches and opted to mostly reuse last year's decorations from b-day #1 and called it a party.

Over the fireplace we hung her b-day banner that I plan to use every year, and topped the mantle with Elmo party favor bags for her friends.  For the record I don't know where any of us would be without Pinterest.  While I don't have an account since I'm still anti-FB and anti-Twitter, I peruse the home page often and bookmark the things that I just can't live without.  Both the party favor bags AND awesome Elmo fruit tray idea (pic farther below) were Pinterest-inspired.

For food I stuck with a similar menu compared to last year as well - a giant cupcake for B's smash cake, cupcakes and brownies for everyone else, baked corn dip and salsa, bagel bites, pigs in a blanket, veggie tray, Elmo fruit tray, goldfish and PB M&M's.

We practiced singing Happy Birthday the week beforehand, and every time B got really excited.  Huge smile on her face, clapping hands and saying "yaaayyyy" at the end.  When it came time for the real thing she must've been overwhelmed because she just got a blank, emotionless stare on her face while everyone else sang to her.

And then she hilariously stuck her entire face in her cupcake. :-)

Daddy finally got a smile!

After cake it was time for presents.  This girl has some seriously amazing family and friends who are so thoughtful and love her like crazy, because she got some wonderful gifts!!  Grace was an awesome helper when it came to unwrapping.

Trying out her red radio flyer trike!!

And nervously testing out the sandbox with her bare feet.  Something we're still working on fully enjoying!

When you ask her how old she's going to be, she excitedly proclaims, "fwee!!"  Surely by the time her real birthday arrives she'll master saying two instead.  Happy early Birthday, sweet girl, and thank you to everyone who helped make her party such a special occasion!!
